Where: Lynden Community Center, 401 Grover Street, Lynden
Time: Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Program starts at 10:00 a.m.
Geoff Hamada began quilting in the late 1980’s. In the 1990’s, he was Chair of Panelmaking for the Seattle Chapter of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. In 1995, Geoff took up Hawaiian quilting, working with master quilters in Honolulu and Hilo. In 2008, Geoff discovered the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum subsequently serving on its Board from 2010–2014. In 2012 and 2018, he and the Museum’s then Curator, Kathleen Kok, co-curated exhibits of quilts by men–MATERIAL MEN 1 & 2. Geoff has spent years researching the long–and often surprising–history of men in quilting, which allows him to bring a fuller context to his trunk show and the story of his journey as a quilter.
